A stone that represents us

Larimar is much more than just a bluish-green stone which is used to create impressively beautiful jewels. Its colors aptly allude to the sea, the vegetation and the sky of the Caribbean.

For us as Dominicans, this stone is part of our national characteristics and idiosyncrasy. From the moments when it is brought out from the depths of the mines in Bahoruco to the moment at which someone, be it a Dominican or a foreigner, acquires a gold or silver jewel created with Larimar, it has a journey through the very essence of what we are and how we work and what hope we put into our future as a people.

We believe in our own value, being able of generating the best possibilities to build today our future with out own hands. Hence, Larimar is culture, Larimar is tourism, Larimar is crafts, and Larimar is commerce. Larimar is an exclusive characteristic of our Caribbean island.

Jorge Caridad, founder and proprietor of the Larimar Factory is professional goldsmith himself. Since his youth he has worked with Larimar and Amber.

He is also founder of the Larimar Museum and the Amber World Museum in the city of Sto.Domingo and became founder and president of the National Association of Craftsmen. Jorge Caridad and his wife Arelis de Caridad have personal interest to give this semiprecious stone, Larimar, the place it deserves: a stone that represents the Dominican people and as such, an important region of the Caribbean. Larimar is a true Dominican-Caribbean treasure.
